Take two fingers and slide them gently between your dog's neck and the collar. If they fit comfortably with a little wiggle room, but the collar isn't loose enough to slip off, you've found the sweet spot. The collar should feel snug without restricting your dog's breathing or movement. If your pup is still growing, consider an adjustable collar to accommodate their changing size.

For our martingale collars specifically, the design tightens slightly when you apply leash pressure, deterring escape attempts. However, the loose loop shouldn't be too big – it should only tighten a little when needed.
